Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

Reviewer 1:

I think this is perhaps one of the user studies that I would like to see taken to the MIT administration the most. I have personally also experienced lots of difficulty using the printers at MIT. I especially liked how the the user experience was broken down pictographically, and very diligently. Although I understand the system, it makes it very clear to an outsider what's going on. I also like how Pharos is a system used by many schools, so this has actually a wide range of take-aways. One suggestion to improve would be to go maybe briefly in detail of how a new software system that was mentioned as a potential solution would look like (big picture layout). Also, along the improvements end, perhaps some investigation in quantifying the current efficiency (identifying some key variables that users find valuable), and seeing how the new card-tap system as well as extended queue period would affect that would be cool. Overall nice job!

Reviewer 2:

I think the analysis on Pharos Printing was very good and thorough. Some improvements would be to group the complaints into topics of improvement, then the quotes from the users thoughts could have been paired with a potential improvement making the conclusions you made more clear. Also having more images could help convey your ideas better, possibly having a final design image that showed some aspect of your improvements, such as the card tapper.

Reviewer 3:

Thorough documentation of the user experience, especially the possible errors that can happen with the printer! Only one I've encountered not mentioned here is being out of ink, in which case you'd just have to find another printer. The collection of user quotes is a great way of analyzing the experience. Good analysis of the issues with the printer, which informed your improvements. Would've been interesting to understand how you prioritized the issues (based on user feedback?) in the scenario MIT has limited resources and can only fix a certain number of things. New software is a sound solution, are there any you think would perform better than the existing? As well, any suggestion on managers of the printing system could be notified of printers that are down? Very much like the suggestion of 48 hour queue time (as a user myself), think it considers everyday use very well.

Reviewer 4:

The user experience analysis is very thorough - the user experience is well-documented, and there are plenty of user thoughts/ quotes. The improvement suggestions would work very well in addressing the user feedback.

Two suggestions would be:

(1) Perhaps consider different Pharos printers on campus instead of just the dorm ones? Users who use other printer locations may have other opinions on the system.

(2) It may be nice to include an actual design/ sketch of the proposed printer and user interface, so the reader can have a better idea of what the improvements would look like

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

Reviewer 1:

Website was easy to navigate, and I found no bugs. I was curious why some of the pictures in the user experience section linked to photos from the MIT website of the same picture, but that wasn't really a problem. Overall easy to use.

Reviewer 2:

The website was well put together but a little bland. Some more colors and images would have helped with the presentation. Also there was some typos, especially in the user experience section. Writing out the content in word and then copy pasting it to the website could help with that. Overall great website, you were able to communicate the human-use experience well.

Reviewer 3:

The layout of the User Experience section with pictures and descriptions was great for understanding the user experience, appreciate the documentation and detail. Overall website is very clear and easy to use. Had no issues navigating to the different pages and the content flowed well. While it was great to see so many user quotes, perhaps would've been clearer to highlight/bold a few that you felt were more commonly experienced or users felt more strongly about. WOuld allow the user to understand what's most painful about the experience.

Reviewer 4:

The website is simple and clear, and is very easy to navigate! I wish the pictures in the user experience page are larger though - right now they are quite small, and I end up having to open each one in new tab to see them clearly. Also, some of the quotes in the user thoughts page are quite similar to one another, so it may be nice if they are reorganized/ categorized a bit more to make them seem less redundant/ repetitive.
