Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

Reviewer 1:

Great analysis on a very widely used product. In your introduction, I would have liked to read more about when the coffee maker started gaining popularity in American households, or some stats on what demographics pick using coffee makers rather than going to coffee shops.

I would have also liked to hear about coffee maker coffee quality versus coffee shop coffee quality. Many people go to shops for the quality of the roasts, or special cold brews. From my experience those who use coffee makers are not really using their machines to experiment with different coffee types. I would have also liked to see a brief comparison between traditional coffee makers (like the one you reviewed), and the ones that have been gaining popularity for the last ten years (eg. Nespresso, where you put a capsule in the coffee machine).

Great paragraph on the problems with the coffee maker, and great solutions to those problems. I would have liked to see more detail on the solutions, maybe a sketch of a design.

Reviewer 2:

It would be better with a more thorough analyses of another coffee machine to compare and contrast.

Reviewer 3:

The choice of analyzing a coffee machine is great as it is instrumental in the morning routine of many people.

More detailed explanation on regarding the experience of a person using the coffee maker can be given with the help of visuals. The solutions might be relatively harder to implement, thus significantly increasing the price of the coffee machine.

Firstly, I like how you chose one specific coffee maker to redesign, allowing you to really pick at the very specific design flaws of this one coffee maker, rather than generalizing to a lot of different coffee makers and trying to improve all of them at all. I think that you could have been more thorough with the user experience portion, maybe adding pictures or videos of people actually using the machine, so that readers of the website can really get a feel for the experience. Furthermore, it might have been nice to have a list of what users want in their ideal coffee maker, rather than just what they enjoy currently about the existing version of the coffee maker. I also think that adding some visual content in the solutions section (sketch of the proposed solution or something similar) would help as it would allow the reader to really visualize what you are saying.

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

Reviewer 1:

I appreciate the simple scroll down one page format, nice big font, and pleasant blue background. I think maybe some quick double checking on your site could have helped you fix some typos ("coffer") and replace your apostrophes with ' in html so that they don't show up as the a/euro/TM symbols. I think the problems and solutions portions could have been nice in a list or table format for some variety.

Reviewer 2:

Everything on one page, it is easy to read, need not to click here and there.

Reviewer 3:

It is easy to read and navigate. Is there a reason why you used blue as your website background? More visuals could have been used as well.

Reviewer 4:

I am actually a fan of the single-page layout, as it allows the user analysis to flow well and read more like an article or a magazine article, so I enjoyed that! I think separating some of the sections would have made the flow more clear -- for example, separating the experience section from the benefits section, as those are two distinct topics, especially as the problems section is also separated, and it goes hand in hand with the benefits section. Also, I think in general adding visual content would help better communicate what you are trying to say and would help with clear up what you are trying to say. Finally, your introduction feels disconnected from the rest of your report, and maybe could be improved if you mentioned user experience of some sort in the introduction as well!
