Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

This user experience was extremely thorough and the writing style was very clear and easy to follow. The user feedback section was particularly insightful in helping the reader understand the general feelings toward these water filling stations. In terms of improvements, the end of the introduction (the last paragraph and the pictures of the fountains) seemed structurally out of place. Pointing out the inconsistencies of the fountains is a clear point, and it would probably fit better in your feedback section. Also, the fountain pictures were nice, but it only takes a couple to get the sense of variety. In short, one picture of a fountain in the intro just for the reader to get a sense of the subject, and a few more in the improvements section to get a sense of variety would have been more than sufficient.

I think your analysis of water filling stations was very thorough and covered all the main points well. I especially liked all the diagrams and interactivity of the website. Also, the pictures of all the varieties of stations across campus was really helpful in showing the inconsistencies and all the existing possibilities. Improvement suggestions would be: maybe also including what other users areas there are for this system besides college students in this analysis. Also, maybe including a diagram or sketch in your improvements to show what those improvements would look like!

I think your analysis was very thorough. Clearly you put a lot of time into considering all aspects of the user experience and all the ways in which the user interacts with the product, as well as what various users desire most out of this experience. I agree that the ambiguity of the yellow light is not helpful for users but would argue that eliminating it entirely might actually lead to stations being unusable due to bad filters more often aster would be no way to let support staff know that a filter needs to be replaced soon and no way to change the filter out before it is no longer good while being sure you are not being wasteful.

The research Khanh did into comparing the different types of existing water bottle filling stations was very thorough, even looking at the price tags of these stations. The pie chart statistics helped convey how frequently people use these water bottle filling stations and the quotes were useful in hearing what people had to say about them. I agree that the yellow intermediate filter signal is ambiguous (is it still safe to drink?) and should be removed. In the improvement section, Khanh wrote: "One solution is to have the water filling station be automatic to start, activated by the sensor, but the user can press a button to stop it. Another solution is setting it so that pressing the button the first time turns the station on, and pressing it again turns the station off, like a simple switch." However, I don't think that there should be any more buttons than there needs to be. What if the user forgets to press the button to turn the water off? Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of being a "green" water bottle filling station?

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

This website was extremely easy to navigate and read. I particularly enjoyed the highlighting of certain key points in the writing by using different text colors. The fact that each shortcut opened a new tab, however, did not create an enjoyable user experience. It's not fun when a reader finishes with the content and now has 6 extra tabs open. Also, the interactive 'hover' feature was not functional. From a user perspective, it is generally better to not include a feature than to present a buggy or ineffective one. The noted 'manual' option was more than sufficient for conveying the point. Overall though, it was a very clean and effective web page.

Your website looks beautiful! I love how clean it looks and the animation on the first page is really nice! I really like the colors and the font choice. However, I wish the text was either a little thicker or darker because the light gray is a little difficult to read when there's a lot of it. Also, I think you don't need to open a new page every time you click a link on the navigation bar, it could just take you to a different page in the same tab and that would be easier for the viewer.

The website is clearly very well designed, but the colored text was somewhat confusing t me at first as I assumed it was links. Also, I saw in the html that you configured each menu link to open in a new tab. This was inconvenient and undesirable - if I want something opened in a tab I prefer having that ability myself, otherwise I have five extra tabs open that I need to remember to close. The content was not the kind that required new tabs so try to be cognizant of that as some people use tabs to organize content they want to save for later.

The hover feature was really fun to use! The overall presentation was very clean with a solid white background and no distracting background patterns or textures. It was a bit strange to have each menu item pop up in its own tab, as it started to occupy previous tab space in my browser window. Maybe have each menu item refresh on the same page? Especially since the menu is right there on the left side, it would be easy to jump to another page.
