Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

Reviewer 1:

Overall, it is a pretty good work and demostrated the issues associated with the vacuum cleaners.

As a general comment, I think it would be better if you have made the vacuum cleaner you studied more specific. For example, you could have said human use analysis of the vacuum cleaners available for students in SP dorm to clean their room. You could also try using it in an actual studnet room instead of a common space. That would make your analysis more specific and it would be more clear that you are trying to address the concerns of student using it for his/her room.

As my first suggestion, I can say that it would be really cool if you had some ideas for changing the heads of the vacuum cleaner so that it can be used for corners and narrow spaces. I personally always have difficulty with corners. It would be great if the head could be changed with the press of a button on the handle so that the user can clean the corners and narrow spaces.

As my second suggestion, I would say changing the position of the place that the chord is connected to the vacuum cleaner can solve several tangling problems. Currently, it is connected to the top of the handle and as a result of this height, it is very likley that the chord gets tangled. We can avoid this tangling issue by connecting the chord to the lowest part of the vacuum cleaner.

In the intro you present a good summary of why you chose vacuums and a technical summary making the reader care and understand the purpose of the vacuum.

The use analysis was very clearly laid out and presented. You presented the questions you asked the users, their responses and then summarized the positives/benefits in a very succinct way.

In the "User Journey" as you walk through the user experience and difficulties it would be helpful to the reader to included simple statements of the goal of each step is throughout the process.

The first redesign for the retractable cord handling mechanism I believe I have seen before on a vacuum. While it dose solve the issue of excess cord and having to unwind/wind the cord every time, the cord now gets stuck at awkward angles, getting caught on your legs and and I sometimes end up holding it my hands anyways. Seems like maybe theres another solution here.

In any case, both redesign suggestions were extracted from highlighted or recurring user experiences which one could see from the interviews and quotes included in the "User Experience" section showing good attention to the human experience.

Very thorough! I think you hit every major point of the user analysis assignment. It was interesting to see what people thought and how you yourself used the device. I also liked that you designed your improvements based on the experience.

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

Reviewer 1:

Generally, the website design is good and it is easy to navigate and follow the story. There are many pictures that help the viewer visualize the problems.

Just a minor comment: I think you forgot to have your name of the home page!

Reviewer 2:

Reading the user experience section it was unclear what part of the vacuum the different users were talking about as you had not yet walked through the vacuum user experience. This could have been solved by simply switching the "User Experience" and "User Journey" sections.

Your website was laid out very nicely, easy to navigate and sectioned in a way that presented the reader with just the right amount of information at a time.
