Are stepper motors the right way to do this? What happens if the scroll is pulled? Will the motors try to auto correct? What keeps the position of the scroll in the same relative position? Also, having a moving part on a door can be troublesome. The wires can be challenging and it slams open and shut all day long.

I'm not super clear what part of the picture scroll is being "explored" here. I think this is more of a looks-like model. I think it would be important to show the mechanism can reliably change the picture fully every time it is triggered to do so (or explore at what tension of the paper the mechanism no longer works).

I think the scroll idea is a good once, but you might want to look into a different option than a physical roll because it only gives you two options. It would have been worthwhile looking into an actual electronic screen so you can get a bunch of variations in the room setup. Another option is to have multiple different "scrolls" or "paintings" on one of the walls of the room and light them up when different people enter. This would give you a larger variation than 2

The sketch could provided some more detail in regards to the mechanical elements. They were described in words, but a few more hand sketches and pictures could have gone a long way!

If this were a looks-like model, I think it would've been very good, but I'm just not super sure if this model in fact shows that the stepper-motor mechanism will work. I see that there is tape on the paper, so there was consideration about the paper slipping, but I would've liked to see it in action.

The sketch model was able to answer the question of having an A/B setting, but I don't think you learned much from it. It was a good start, but can definitely be improved upon. Next time think about some of the more difficult questions like: how do we sense where people are? How are we going to match an image to the state of the room?

The moving scroll idea works very well both in terms of implementation of the self-resetting mechanism and in terms of integration with the Ancient Chinese style of the room.
