Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

This is a good concept on testing how well a light sensor works, but I think that it ignores one of the biggest issues you are going to face--fitting the sensor discreetly into something that looks like a solar panel. I think that working with your "looks-like" group on developing this system further is the next step.

The sketch model looks into a critical part of the room, and will be essential if you continue with this storyboard. I like the inclusion of the cone to isolate the sensor from ambient light, and only take in the light from the mirrors, but I wonder how well this actually works in practice. Like, is nearly all ambient light filtered out, or do you still have to adjust the threshold on the sensor to account for this. Overall though, I think it's a thoughtful design, and definitely has some promise if you proceed with this!

Reviewer 3:

The light detector is a very important piece in the room, so it's very necessary to explore more about the concept using the model.

Reviewer 4:

I think you chose a solid concept to explore and make. It seems like you answered questions on how you can capture the light that was reflected by the mirrors, and it seems like having sensors to measure the light intensity make a lot of sense. Keeping the mirror secure in its place also seemed like an important question to answer, since it involves safety of the players.

Feedback on the execution of the sketch model

Client 1:

This is a great start on testing the electronics, again, I would work on integration as the next step--I think it is going to be more difficult than you're expecting.

Like I said above, I like the inclusion of the cone, but wonder if there's a more elegant solution to this. Possibly making all ambient light in the room red or orange or something (to also keep up with the illusion of the room melting down), and then only the source of the light is white/a different color. That way, the sensor could be programmed to only react when it takes in the desired color, and not when other colors hit it. This would eliminate the need for the cone, and could allow for you to have more versatility in the placement of the sensor.

Reviewer 3:

The model is executed quiet well, but my question after viewing the model is that how do you distinguish between laser light and other light sources that players can carry with them, such as a phone flashlght or etc. Is there a way to filter out certain light and only accept the designated laser?

Reviewer 4:

The sketch models of the light detectors and the mirror looked really good. The magnetic ball mount seems like a solid choice for keeping the mirror in place but giving it enough degrees of freedom to tilt in both directions. I would have liked to seen prettier or more aesthetic designs of the mirror that would fit within the theme of your storyboard. Same goes for the light detector. Maybe you can have sensors with different colors to flash when the correct light intensity is reflected to them.
