Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

I looked up this Youtube video [url]

and found that what you've made looks a lot like what people use to SEND Morse Code... but doesn't look like the piece that is used to RECEIVE Mores Code. This may increase guest confusion, making them think they have to send some sort of message - especially since the room reacts the first time they press on the machine.

Client 2:

Great looking thing you made! I wanted to play with it, that's for sure. Nice attention to detail, and the sketch model does a very good job at conveying exactly what it is meant to be.

Someone during the presentation expressed concern that people would not know to play with the telegraph machine. I personally disagree. It's got a spring, a little plunger - I'd poke at it first thing.

Reviewer 3:

I've never used/ played with a telegram machine myself, so I think it's very cool to have it in the room! To be honest, I will probably think that the telegraph machine is crucial to solving the puzzle just because it's such a special/ rare object!

Reviewer 4:

The concept explored by the sketch model is very interesting and appealing specially because it so mechanical in nature. It would be a good idea to just elaborate a bit more on how the telegram machine would work. For example, the details of the electronic circuit that would be required for the game room and also what would be the output based on user's interaction. What would the user input to get a dot as the output and what needs to be input to get a dash as the output.

Reviewer 5:

I think the that the sketch model is supper successful in exploring the concepts that you mentioned! It is made clear how a user would interact with it (and the spring under the little handle thing helps make it super obvious which part a user should interact with/touch). I also like how the telegram machine is super rustic, but one thing I would think about is that most people (or me, at least) do not know what a telegram machine looks like and so will have no idea what the thing in the middle room is at first. This could be a good thing, as it might draw users to the telegram machine, or it could be really confusing (maybe, if you want to make it more obvious, you could have some sort of fancy inscription that says telegram or something -- but then again, it could be part of the challenge that players don't know what it is).

Reviewer 6:

The telegraph machine is an engaging idea and I really like the idea of recreating a functioning telegraph.

Feedback on the execution of the sketch model

Client 1:

Would it be possible to purchase some parts for this, rather than carving everything from wood? That way you could easily achieve common shapes like perfect circles. But, I like that you considered how to make the wood look like metal.

Client 2:

Well done! Clearly you put some serious effort into making it look 'right.'

Reviewer 3:

I think the telegram machine looks really real and engaging! However, it does look a little tiny, so you may want to have multiple of them in the room/ make a slightly bigger one so that the players would definitely notice it?!

Reviewer 4:

The sketch model of the telegraph machine is very well executed. Good thought process while fabricating the model and specific attention was given to certain details like color, texture and appearance of the model. Brownish wood color gives a perspective of a very antique look and feel. Good work ! Keep it up !

Reviewer 5:

I thought that the sketch model was super well executed! It looks super duper realistic and really is able to answer most of the questions that you posed on your webpage. I liked how you were able to make it look really rustic. I also like the little spring underneath the handle-thing, because I think it helps to tell the user which part of the telegram to interact with. Like I said above, I have no idea what telegram machines look like, and I am guessing that most other people don't know either, so maybe this fact could draw them to interact with the machine. Overall, awesome job with the model, it looks really really good!

Reviewer 6:

I personally imagine an old telegraph machine to be mostly metal, and I'm not sure the heavily dilapitated look fits that well (especially since it's in a museum). A 3d printed designed to look like early telegraphs that's sanded, primed and finished to look more like aged bronze could look much better.
