Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

While I appreciate that you went with a 'basic boring' look for the shelf, sadly what it comes out as is... basic and boring. Maybe look at something a little more textured - like a rusted appearance, to go with the post-apocalyptic look.

I am not entirely sure I understand how the force sensors work. Are they embedded in the boxes themselves and triggered by touching the boxes? I think that in the final model you are going to need to use something more durable for the boxes--cardboard will just never hold up long. I think that visually it looks pretty nice! Maybe instead of just spacing everything together more closely you could have some price tags with no items behind them--this could sell the apocalyptic look!

Reviewer 3:

I don't get why the containers are lit up. There's no penalty for touching a not lit-up container. Do the containers blink on or off?

Are you planning on using actual food containers or make them comically large?

Reviewer 4:

There certainly needs to be a way to indicated to the players, so I think this a good thing to explore. Why were these items chosen and might there be different foods chosen if you don't have power / heat / electricity?

Reviewer 5:

I think the concept is good and I like that the players will get feedback with the lights on each item. Have you thought about how the players will touch the items? Where would they touch; the price tag, the actual item, a button below the item? Would there be a sound effect to indicate that the players added the correct item to their cart? Do the items need to be touched in a specific order?

Reviewer 6:

Getting the 'looks-like' right on this is very important, since it has to immediately capture the participants' attention (especially relative to all of the other items in the room). I think you've done a good job of highlighting the lighting mechanism that will do this. In the context of a post-apocalyptic world, though, I also think it's important to think about how this item will look relative to the other items - perhaps the items that are not meant to be salvageable could be burnt, chewed through, or otherwise be made to look unappealing.

Feedback on the execution of the sketch model

Client 1:

Another option to look at would be a touch-capacitive sensor with a metal plate on the inside of the food item. This would avoid guests having to really 'jab' at the item for the force sensor to work.

Client 2:

This was well done for getting a look of what the shelves will look like visually, and I think it is effective at answering some of the big visual questions. Nice work!

Reviewer 3:

The sketch model portrays what the builder wants it to.

Reviewer 4:

The brushed look with the blue light seem effective. You may be limited to items with transparent packaging for this concept to work, which might be ok. On a real shelf the items would be closer, and there would be duplicates behind. I like the addition of the sticker. It looks realistic and definitely reminds me of a real grocery. I'm curious how this would look up on a high shelf though. It doesn't appear that that was explored for the looks-like model.

Reviewer 5:

Looks just like items in a grocery store with price tags and everything. I would like to see potentially some filler items that don't light up to make it seem more realistically like a grocery store that's stocked with multiples of each item. I also like the use of the frosted glass pain to diffuse the light.

Reviewer 6:

Using an actual box of food makes quite a bit of sense for this looks like model, and I assume that's what would be done (with branding removed, of course) for the actual room. The light is straightforward, but all of the integration is clean, and this model gives me a good sense of what the object would actually look like.
