Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

The mirrors will become incredibly smudgy - even with the little pegs for guests to use. They will touch the mirrors anyway. If mirrors are going to be used, they should be able to reflect enough light in a 'worst case smudge' scenario. It would be awful for a game to be broken because it hadn't been windex'd that day.

Client 2:

These need to be very robust and able to hold up to near constant abuse. I would also be careful that there isn't too much of a safety hazard around the edges as far as pinched fingers go.

Reviewer 3:

The mirror looks like a normal mirror mounted on a platform. It'd have been better in my opinion to have actually implemented the described rustic finish of the mirror so as to help me understand the concept better. This would have conveyed the overall theme, setting and the use of the mirror in a clearer manner.

Reviewer 4:

The way the players interact with the mirrors is crucial to the room so this seems like a good concept to explore. Instead of using these nubs you could try handles on the sides of the mirrors as these are usually good indicators that the user is supposed to grab the handles and move the object they are connected to.

It might have been very informative to build a quick test setup with the mirror and a photodiode to see how easily users can correctly angle the mirrors.

Reviewer 5:

I'm a big fan of the look of the mirrors you developed. The looks-like model was suppose to match the rustic look of the spaceship with the mirrors. To me it doesn't evoke a big "spaceship" feel to it.

Reviewer 6:

The concept is well-designed and considerable thought was given to different design aspects of he prop during the gameplay. My only concern with the implementation of an actual mirror is its fragility and the possibility of it breaking. Thus, some other shiny surface could be implemented maybe metallic based to avoid such problems.

Reviewer 7:

The idea of nubs is a good thought to prevent guests from putting their fingers all over the mirror. But I don't think it will be enough to stop them from doing that. Perhaps the mirror could be covered with a clear plastic panel with holes for the nubs. That way the only way the mirror can move is by pressing the nubs, and no fingerprints will get on the mirror (and you can choose the plastic covering such that it does not easily show fingerprints)

I agree with the solar panel picture. To me looking at it, it is very obvious what it is and what it should be used for. Perhaps you can also add a slightly reflective cover to it, or print the image on a glossy paper to give it more of a realistic feel.

Feedback on the execution of the sketch model

Client 1:

Great! I love your discovery of the ergonomic nature of those pegs.

I think the existence of the pegs helps the players understand that the mirror is an 'interactive object' - even if they don't understand what they pegs do exactly.

Client 2:

The descriptions and pictures were concise and to the point. Well done.

Reviewer 3:

The sketch model as described in the previous answer, could have conveyed a few aspects in a better manner. Moreover, I'd have appreciated a more detailed description of the sketch model in the text. I liked that the website was simple, clean and easy to read & navigate. If it would have included more pictures, the whole concept would have been more compelling for me as a reader.

Reviewer 4:

Because the goal of the model was to see how the users interact with the mirrors it would have been great if you iterated through a couple different options for the users to push or pull the mirrors instead of just trying the one option. Visually, the details were thought out to match the room theme but as a "works like" there could have been less time spent on visual details and instead of physical variations.

Reviewer 5:

Fingerprints will be abundant! Maybe there is a method to keep fingerprints off the mirror by putting it behind a glass casing of some sort with only the "nubs" sticking out?

Reviewer 6:

The looks-like model is well-executed, its aesthetically nice and incorporates all the critical details for its function during the gameplay. As mentioned before, maybe some reconsideration should be given for implementing an actual mirror but there are easy ways around this. Overall, nice model!

Reviewer 7:

The looks like models were well executed. You can take these two models and show it to people and learn a lot from them with regards to how they interact with them.
