Feedback on experience depicted in the storyboard as an Open World Experience

Client 1:

This could be a great game! I like the 'pond hop' over the lava to get to the different mirrors.

Client 2:

I really like this room idea. I think my only main suggestion would be to keep the game mechanic but retheme the game a little bit to resemble the interior of a space ship. It is going to be really hard to theme the room to be outer space without it coming across as really tacky.

I like the idea of an abandoned spaceship, but you might want to re-think the floor is lava part. I don't quite get why that is necessary for the room. If you're trying to get people to not walk in certain parts, maybe you can show that part of the space-ship is blocked off our blown up? I do like the idea of multiple flashing lights and mirrors though.

-It seems like there is wayyyy too much going on in this room. Having the floor be lava but the top part of the room be space ship is very confusing, and even with the descriptions in the storyboard it was still confusing. I would reccomend narrowing the scope.

I feel like it's not very clear what the theme is from the storyboard. There's volcanoes, space ships, mirrors, etc. which don't seem like one theme but rather multiple themes in one room. Maybe you could frame the elements in the room differently to make it more cohesive. I'm also aware that mechanics on the floor might be hard to implement (but not impossible) so be wary of that! How would you prevent users from just stepping on the lava? (in other words, what would stop them from just walking on the lava floor and doing the challenge)

This is a cool concept, and I think if implemented properly could be really fun. I think the puzzle aspect of the room is cool, but I have a concern relating to the lava part of the room. How exactly would you keep up the illusion of the lava, and prevent users from walking around the room where they aren't supposed to. You might have to put up netting or some plastic panes to prevent people walking where you don't want them to. Not really sure how you would accomplish this, but having a room with lava in it that you can basically just walk around is a bit weird. I'm sure there's a way around this though!

The experience depicted in the storyboard sounds like a fun experience, but I'm little curious to know how many people can participate in the game at the same time. In order to increase group participation, maybe installed multiple mirror panels in the room?

Reviewer 8:

The implementation of the "floor is lava" gives it a nice touch to engage the players in physical activities although not super original. What I do consider to be innovative is the whole lighting system to win the gameplay. It incorporates multiple dynamic elements that also adds difficulty to the gameplay. Although, my only concern is the fact that the spaceship setting and "lava-floor" doesn't mix quite easily but I'm still game with it.

Seems like a cool concept - reflecting some light to use the solar panel to generate some power! It's a little confusing how the interior of the spaceship and the lava go together. I think the lava, the lights, the mirrors are all kind of forced in to one storyboard. Aligning them all could make for a really interesting room. Like, if the lights somehow looked like the sun coming through the windows of the spaceship, and the mirrors were the only format to reflect it into the solar panels. I think the lava isn't a big draw for this room.

Self-reseting might be an issue - as the mirrors will always be in the correct orientation for the next group if the group beforehand figured it out. If there was a release mechanism on the mirror to have them pointing down at the floor when users walk in, that'd be great.

The idea of adjusting mirrors is great to engage multiple team members. However, I am slightly with the storyboard. Are the guests inside of a spaceship? If so then why is the floor inside the ship lava? and why are there rocks? Are the rocks necessary for the gameplay, I am not sure what value they add?

I really liked the storyboard and the idea of adjusting mirrors to fuel your spaceship. However, it seems to me that the shaking and unstable rocks were unnecessary. If the rocks are unstable and the players cannot stand on them, that just creates unnecessary distraction from the game. You can just not have those rocks and have the entire floor to be lava. And maybe use the same mirrors to fuel a pathway that appears when the mirrors are angled correctly to help the players walk across the room.

I really like the combination of a physical challenge with the angling of the mirrors. It seems to combine the traditional light redirection with a new physical challenge. I am interested to see how you will handle the "floor is lava" detection and the tippy rocks themselves, there may be some legitimate technical challenges here!

The concept is fun and feels like it would fit well into the Open World. Im wondering if there is a more directly gratifying finish to the room? By that I mean when the players have successfully angled the mirrors and charged the solar panel, there is a physical change they can act on or leads them out of the room so they are "escaping" the planet in disaster. One idea would be for a path along the lava rocks to be revealed leading the players to the exit.

I was surprised to read that the original storyboard also included a lava field that the players need to avoid. From the live presentation it seemed to me that the only objective or play of the game was to orient the mirrors such that the light was directed to the solar panels thus powering the spaceship. If I were in a room with lava, I am unsure whether I would notice the mirrors and the task at hand. Maybe if there were a clear path along the lava (i.e. it is not a huge challenge to move around but there is a path to do so) could keep the motivation/difficulty and direct the players?

A safety concern rises with the unstable rocks -- what about people with unstable ankles ? It looks fun though, I like the idea of walking into a room with flashing lights, it's disorienting in a 5wits sort of way.

Reviewer 16:

The storyboard seems like a lot of fun for the participants who enter the rooms. I really liked the element of precise movements to control the gameplay.

I would expect the creators to add some element so as to prevent the participants from stepping in lava. This could be done by adding sensors integrated with the timer (which decrease the time available to solve the puzzle upon stepping in the lava repeatedly).

This is a cool idea for a room. Will the light be such that they players will be able to see it as it bounces around the room? I hope so, as this would be a really cool effect. It is also not clear from the storyboard - how will guests fail the room? Is there a time limit in which they must hit the target? Additionally, how will guests maneuver around the room to adjust the mirrored panels if the lava rocks are unstable?
