Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

I love the idea of a big, archetypal switch like like that, but typically we stay away from custom-made solutions where a similar (or similar enough) product is readily available.

A purchased solution that is close enough in design is 1) cheaper 2) more durable and 3) quickly and easily replaced if it breaks.

We've used a product for this exact look and purpose that is a 3 pole, double throw knife switch for disconnects.

Client 2:

It is great that the switch is accessible from inside the room, but how is accessible? Is it 4 screws? Is it hinged and has a lock? As for the switch, most people associate moving the switch "up" as turning it "on" and "down" as turning it "off". Should the switch goes sideways? Make sure you do not create any finger pinching situations. Also, from a programming perspective, we don't care which position the switch is physically in. All the program is looking for is that you are moving that switch at all (and when). You can use one sensor and detect a change of state. One part that 5 Wits has used in the past that you may want to consider is a slot machine lever. It is a purchasable part that can handle much abuse. The downside can be price and finding/fabricating a handle that matches the theme.

Reviewer 3:

I like the concept, although it just seems like a regular switch. I'm not sure why this specifically needed a sketch model!

Reviewer 4:

The concept is well developed and explained.

Reviewer 5:

The sketch model is simple yet well-representative of the switch prop in the game play. The relative size of the switch as well as the two states are well-designed. My only suggestion would be to maybe incorporate a color screen behind the switch to change the location of the colors between gameplays thus adding different solutions between gameplays.

Reviewer 6:

It is great to come up with 2 versions of the concept for the model. The model is simple but descriptive.

Feedback on the execution of the sketch model

Client 1:

Nicely done little model, though! Good job showing what it might look like and how it would work.

Client 2:

The pictures are clear. Explaining the switch position (in text) can be confusing so make sure you are explicit in your explanation.

Reviewer 3:

I'm unclear what the electromagnet does. It deactivates briefly to let the switch fall to the lower level, but then what is the purpose of changing the direction in which the switch needs to be turned each time?

Reviewer 4:

I like the general functional mechanism and resetting features.

Reviewer 5:

The model is well-executed the major design details are recognized and well-implemented in the model. Additional details could still be implemented to improve the aesthetics of the model. But overall, great!

Reviewer 6:

It is a great model finally. Remember to strengthen the material since people tend to push the property hard in the game.
