Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

There is not a lot for me to evaluate here. I see a basic example of the form factor and a suggestion of the texture, which both look fine. I don't have a sense of the scale of the product or any discussion of what you learned from building this model. What implications does it have for your group's final product?

Reviewer 2:

I didn't really understand why this was the concept that was explored within the storyboard. It seemed like there were several other concepts within the storyboard, such as the large control panel, that would have been more useful to explore. It was also unclear what question this looks-like model was addressing.

I think that this could be a good model to look at how people interact with the lever and how it will look/feel being used. It was really stated why you made the model and how it helped. It would have maybe been nice if it could rotate so that people could get a good feel for how it worked. I also did not know that the level changed LED lights - this could have been more clear in the storyboard.

Reviewer 4:

The concept explored by the sketch model is simple and elegant. The lever has three movements and each of those movements would trigger different reactions - it might be a good idea to explain what does different reactions are.

The painted blue foam goes a long way! It looks fairly straightforward for what to do with the lever. The harder part appears to be connecting this lever to the release switch for the artifact and getting it automatically reset. That can be done by potentially

Feedback on the execution of the sketch model

Client 1:

This is relatively minor, but please use a spellchecker on your text before submitting. Presentation does matter!

As I mentioned above, I would have liked to see some more detail in this. Even just more than one picture of the model would be good. Consider showing some element of scale (someone's hand on the lever) or your design sketches.

Reviewer 2:

It doesn't seem like this sketch model was useful in answering any critical questions about the storyboard and concept. You mentioned that in the actual game, the device should be made of metal- it would have been useful to try to use some of those materials to fabricate this model so it was accurate to the look and feel of the actual thing. The painted blue foam looked matte and did not give the sense that the actual device would be metal or reflective as shown in the drawings. Additionally, the description on the website was difficult to read and understand due to errors and unclear wording. In this case, the concept sketch seemed more useful than the sketch model, which is unfortunate!

Reviewer 3:

I think that this sketch model is good but could be improved. It would have been nice to see a finish more closely resembling the desired final finish. I think by adding some Bondo or spackle before painting would have created a smooth more metallic look. It would have also been cool if the look of the level matched that of the concept sketch, with a ball like shape at the end.

Reviewer 4:

You did a good job by thinking holistically about the appearance of the room and the lever component is consistent with the room's color and material specification. It would have been a good idea to explain how the lever is constructed and what internal components will be required to give it three level rotation.

Reviewer 5:

It's very simple and straightforward.
