Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

I think that this explores a lot of issues and addresses most of them. I think that using a DC motor as a sensor is probably overkill as far as sensing the crank. At 5Wits we will often use a single magnet mounted to the crank that trips a magnetic reed switch once every rotation and have found that it works well. This is much easier to sense.

Reviewer 2:

I think this is a great concept, and very intuitive for users to step into a room and want to turn the handle of a crank. I'd like to see more expanded on how the code/ game works with increasing cranking to get more letters to show up (a video would have been helpful). Overall great idea.

Reviewer 3:

This is a cool concept because it is simple to make and fun to play with. It takes some work for the user to figure out what to do, but once they do, they can interact physically with the gag. In fact, you could make multiple cranks that increase in difficulty, either because they are harder to turn or positioned higher up in the room. This would be another way to get multiple players involved.

They seemed to have done a thorough investigation into the optimal voltage that should be used and also discovered something about the form factor of th ecrank. Would love to see how the final product turns out!

Feedback on the execution of the sketch model

Client 1:

This is a great prototype. Well done.

Reviewer 2:

It looks like a lot of thinking and effort were put into this model but the website doesn't show everything. Videos of the model working would explain a lot more, as well as some of the testing results (tests run, number of users, actual numbers obtained for the voltage and time delay).

Reviewer 3:

The sketch model tests the user interaction with the crank well and shows how the concept would work. It would have also been nice to see different design iterations for the handle and the turning difficulty, especially to see which combinations users preferred.

I do not have expertise in electronics, but it seems like the group was able to fully explore the difficulties that might arise from this design.
