Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

I think the 'button' tile is a good concept. It's interesting for guest interactions and game play.

I think this was a good concept to test with as it gives you an idea of how the tiles will look and feel and how people will interact with them. I like that you already have thoughts moving forward and are already thinking about how to make it sturdy to multiple presses and making sure it won't fall of the wall. What happens if someone presses the edge of the tile (maybe its all they can reach) will it still get set off from the button?

Good test! I would like to see how this would look in a room, would we need to make hundreds of tiles?

Feedback on the execution of the sketch model

Client 1:

As good an idea as it is. I think the use of springs and a physical button has to many technical flaws. It's not a robust and easily repeatable system and it also has no adjustablity. I suggest using a double piston air cylinder with some kind of limit switch behind it. You would need very little throw on the cylinder and it could be adjustable, and with a good design easy to repeat.

To fix your 'carving' I would suggest cutting your tile from mdf carving it then painting it with a textured paint and then highlighting the carving with a darker color.

I think the sketch model looks good. I think that the sand paper has a good look but agree it could be better if you could etch the symbol in. I think the corners also look a bit unclean and could be tidied up a little. I think its good you adjusted for the second tile being raised and think the bottom and springs in the back look and probably feel good and easy to press.

Looks great - good idea with the sandpaper. Seems like it works the way you want it to! Is there any haptic or acoustic feedback on pressing the tiles?
