Feedback on experience depicted in the storyboard as an Open World Experience

Client 1:

Your storyboard here doesn't seem to match your concept sketches so I'm not sure what to comment on. I really like the idea of trying to get out of a deteriorating building by having to climb across stuff. I have a problem with some of the monkey bar challenges in the storyboard - for example, you can't make something so hot that it will burn guests - but in the looks-like and works-like models it seems you've switched to a different kind of monkey bar challenge.

Client 2:

I love monkey bars, and all kinds of games with monkey bars. I think this interesting, rotating structure idea is really cool. It's very 'American Ninja Warrior.'

I also think it is *incredibly difficult.* I take circus & trapeze classes for fun, and I can tell you first hand how hard it is for people to hang from a bar for any extended period of time - especially with one hand.

Reviewer 3:

I'm not super sure what this room is about. Are you supposed to selectively go through monkey bars/ladders until you find the correct one? I like the physical aspect of it, but I think that maybe there should be more of a challenge in terms of finding out what you need to do.

Reviewer 4:

The storyboard was a bit confusing, it seemed a bit more like an exploration of different possibilities for the room instead of one specific story. It seemed like it was made before you decided on a concept for your sketch models. Otherwise, I think the monkey-bar challenge is straight-forward and fun.

Reviewer 5:

I like the concepts and experience shown in the storyboard. However, I don't think the storyboard theming matched with what was done in the looks like model. That being said, the looks like that you guys made seems very engaging. Have you thought about the safety for this experience? A way to incorporate some safety mats on the ground could solve this. Also, what is going to stop someone from just going across hanging on the sidebars rather than the rolling bars?

Reviewer 6:

The storyboard is minimal yet effective, but should be modified to fit the implementation of the rolling bars concept if you end up pursuing that.

Reviewer 7:

I think this looks like a fun game, and one that is not too technically complex. I suppose your target audience is someone with more physical capabilities then? What is my overall mission as I move through this world?

Reviewer 8:

Generally, the fallout city concept is compelling, good chance to transport people to an interesting scenario. The physical nature of the monkey bars is good, would be fun to play the game. My biggest concern would be with safety - with moving or hot bars it seems easier for someone to hurt themselves. I wonder if there are ways you can make it more challenging without a safety issue. Maybe parts of the bar light up and you have to move on from that section before it is "hot", via lights vs. actual temperature. That would also make the game possible to play over and over again.

Reviewer 9:

As I understand it, the goal of the room is to make it across without touching the floor. I would be a little worried about how this is made clear in the scope of the room -- how do the guests know that they can't touch the floor?

Reviewer 10:

I like this physical challenge! Monkey bars would be really fun and I think they could be constructed to look very cool as part of this theme. It's also cool that there is the added challenge of having to avoid certain bars (though this may not be necessary, as monkey bars may already be challenging enough to have a 25% first try success rate).
