Innovativeness and potential of Starry Moonlight storyboard

Client 1:

I don't understand what the players are doing in your storyboards.

Reviewer 2:

I'm a bit confused with the lights. Do the buttons only control certain lights? Or do buttons both turn on and off lights at the same time?

Reviewer 3:

This is a unique idea! It also fits the project well as it requires problem solving and teamwork. The storyboard flows very well, but there could be some more motivation to the game task. For example, if completing the painting also revealed a clue that made it easier to complete the next painting/room. Or if the sequence of lights was a key code to unlock a door. This could make the game appealing to a wider user base. This has the potential to be a beautiful, immersive user experience (using planetarium-like lighting, mirror tricks, etc.) but my one practical concern is the open-top room design as ambient light may make this concept difficult to execute.

Innovativeness and potential of Music Ball storyboard

Client 1:

How is a rhythm entered with a basketball and a bookshelf? There's something about connecting the dots?

Reviewer 2:

I can assume but its not entirely clear if making the basket is what creates the tune or gives the notes. When the notes are given, are they given as a tune or the notes themselves? You may want to consider a back-up for the piano or pressing the order of the keys because right now success highly depends on someone knowing how to play the piano. One way to overcome this would be is to have numbers given out when a basket is made and have those numbers correspond to keys on the piano.

Reviewer 3:

There are a lot of disparate elements to this game, which adds complexity but also confusion. The room has the potential to be an engaging, difficult puzzle, but the lack of continuity between the elements could also make the game uninteresting for some users. Perhaps you should select a room theme, such as musical sounds, and have each element somewhat connected to music. If too many different elements appear the game just becomes random and a bit of a sensory overload. However, this is a good example of a game that is difficult to figure out. Try changing some of the tasks and see if you can give the game a bit more continuity.

Innovativeness and potential of Follow the Light storyboard

Client 1:

I think you need to match similiarly colored buttons? Even if the point of the room is to be a mystery, the storyboard should still clearly convey what you're supposed to do.

Reviewer 2:

There should be a way to know if all the buttons have been hit. Since the room is dark, it may be easy to miss certain buttons. In the "Realization" panel, it is not entirely clear what the objective is. Are these buttons supposed to be hit in a specific order or in a connect the dots manner? What will activate the signaling of the buttons? Will it occur after all the buttons are hit or do they show from the beginning.

Reviewer 3:

This seems like a fun user experience because it is a simple concept, but mentally and physically challenging. Again, this could be difficult to accomplish in an open-top room. It is also unclear what the users realize and do in the last two frames. Adding to the captions could make game objectives more clear. The game is somewhat unmotivated in its current form. Why do the users want to get to the door? Could there be a clue in the light patterns? Adding these higher level elements might make the game engaging for more users.

Storyboard design and website presentation and execution

Client 1:

The storyboards could be much clearer. The website is well laid out and concise.

Reviewer 2:

The thumbnails make thing very easy to navigate through your website. Nice touch on the logo by the way. The storyboards could use a bit more of explanation. As a reader, you are able to reason out what you happens and what you need to do in order to complete the room, but they are not initially clear when reading the storyboard. Referring to "Follow the Lights", it wasn't entirely clear what solved the room. Having to make certain assumptions disrupts the flow of the panels.

Reviewer 3:

The continuity of the storyboards is very good, and the images enhance the understanding of the scene. It was difficult to read some of the text. I suggest typing the text and adding it on to the panels in the web page. This will also give you more room for the captions. The website itself was easy to use and clearly laid out. Well done!

Room theme, Arouse Your Senses: engaging and interesting? identifiable with target users?

Client 1:

I don't think I understand what an Arouse Your Senses theme would look like visually. It's certainly not the type of theme that would get people excited.

Reviewer 2:

"Arouse Your Senses" is a bit of a vague theme. The three ideas were loosely tied to each other but this works to your advantage as it can allow you to take bigger strides. Your use of lights will definitely create a room that is visually appealing and leave players in awe. Perhaps consider going in deeper with the lights aspect you have going.

Reviewer 3:

This is a unique theme idea and it could provide an exceptional user experience. Overall I suggest making each room have a stronger thematic aspect as well as a game-based motivation. This will help appeal to a wider user base.
