Ring Premiere

The Class of 2001 Ring Premiere will be held on March 6, 1999, at 5pm in Walker Memorial. Traditionally, the Ring Premiere is the second biggest and best attended class event -- second only to Institute Commencement. This year’s event will feature a presentation of the Ring’s design, free food, and many free commemorative items. We’ll be giving out the memorabilia on a first come, first serve basis -- so be sure to get there early so you don’t miss out on the free stuff!

To note, ring sales will follow the premiere. You can place orders for your ring at the large booth in Lobby 10 during the 1.5 weeks following the Premiere.

The distribution of the rings will begin at the Ring Delivery, on Sunday, May 9th, 1999. Only those who place ring orders in the days just following the Premiere will be able to get their ring at the Ring Delivery Event. Details of the event will be unveiled at the Ring Premiere. No class in MIT history has ever had a delivery event such as this -- usually rings are just distributed somewhere on campus. The Delivery promises to be unbelievable, memorable, one of a kind, and of course, free. Please note this date, as this will be an event you definitely don’t want to miss!

Along with traditional elements of the ring such as the beaver, each class ring committee customizes the ring to best exemplify that class. Please join us on March 6 for the Premiere of our class ring design.

Arts, Crafts, & Games at Senior Home

On Saturday, March 13, 1999, the class community service committee (email: 2001community@mit.edu) will be holding its first major class event of the term. Class members will be visiting Cambridge Nursing Home in Porter Square, and will spend the afternoon working on arts and crafts projects and playing games with residents there. If you would like to go, meet at 1pm in the glass hallway between buildings 56 and 66. Please bring games or decks of cards if you can. For more information, contact Stefani Okasaki <stef@mit.edu> or Greg Reynolds <greynlds@mit.edu>.

T-shirt Contest

The Class of 2001 council will be organizing a contest in which class members can submit designs for an all-new class t-shirt and a campus-wide MIT t-shirt. Please be sure to spell check all design submissions. Contact jpanduro@mit.edu for details.

Upcoming Elections

During the time period of March 10-15, elections for all class councils, Undergraduate Association President & Vice President, and Finance Board will be held. Students can vote electronically and by ballot. Electronic voting runs from Wednesday, March 10 to Sunday, March 14. Students can vote online by typing at their athena prompt:

Voting by ballot will be on Monday, March 15. Main locations for ballot voting include Student Center, Lobby 7 and East Campus. For further information, contact the UA Election Commission at <ua-elect@mit.edu>.
