The Trial of Louis XVI started yesterday. Back in July, at a Jacobin meeting, Robespierre called for the removal of the king. After that, things seemed to snowball. In August, there was a second invasion of the Tuilleries and the procedure to bring down the monarchy had begun. Soon after the second invasion, the royal family was imprisoned in the tower of the Temple. In September, rumors of invasion, the collapse of the Revolution, and of conspiracies led to widespread fear and the massacre of about 1500 prisoners who were suspected traitors. Things are getting out of hand and seem to only get worse. I don't think anyone has any control over anything anymore.

For the past two days, Claude has been outside the trial of Louis and he plans to remain there through the entire thing. He says that printing can wait, justice is begin conducted before our very eyes and who are we to turn our heads? He can be very philosophical sometimes. I have been doing most of the printing for the past couple of weeks, Claude has thrown himself fully into the cause and destruction of the monarchy. I have been printing mostly the revolutionary pamphlets that he left behind as well as a few other commissions that we received from the church. He has left most of the excess texts in his desk collecting dust and I thought if I brought them out and printed them, we could be looking at a decent amount of extra money come Christmas time. Danielle and Michel are both very excited and Danielle has begun to sew her own stockings this year. Michel tried too but he pricked his finger and threw the fabric across the floor. Danielle is trying to teach him all of the things that I've taught her so far.
