Trudy is our main link to the world in this story. Actually, she's a bag lady who allows herself to be the transmitter of life around her to some anthropological aliens curious about how humans live life and deal with the trials it often holds. Her brain acts as the TV, and the aliens hold the remote control. You never know which channel they might switch to next.
