Overlooked by a Victorian,
country vicarage-type house with terrace and doors leading directly
into the sitting room. Once obviously well laid out. it is now widely
overgrown. The other way off leads down through the wilderness to
the lane at the bottom and can also take you round to the front of the
house.
TOM, a pensive, thoughtful man, enters. Casually dressed in weekend
country clothes. He stands gazing rather aimlesslyabout him. After a
monent, ANNIE enters. Red faced and shiny, she wears a very old
sweater, button-up and too large, jeans and gum boots. She stops as
she sees
TOM.
