Interactive Communications
Above all else, cyberspace is about communication. With such a
diverse range of users, it becomes possible to discuss a large
number of topics with people of similar interests.
One method of commucation is through electronic mail. For example,
to send us comments, just click here to
send email.
Another popular way to interact to a large group of people is through USENET
News. USENET is a collection of thousands of newsgroups discussing
everything from running to
computer chips to
cars. Cyberspace is
There are several discussion groups on publishing in the electronic age:
comp.publish.electronic.misc
provides general information on electronic publishing and the tools available.
comp.publish.cdrom.multimedia
is a USENET newsgroup which discusses different software products on the
market available for multimedia production.
comp.publish.cdrom.software
contains valuable information regarding the pros and cons of different CDROM
mastering software.
Many other relevant USENET newsgroups are available, far too many to list here. One
method of finding a group that may have relevent topics is to use a search engine
which archives USENET groups. Two of the most popular are:
Alta Vista is a popular search engine developed by
Digital Equipment Corporation.
Commonly used to search Web pages, it also has the ability to search the
USENET newsgroups.
Dejanews
is a USENET search engine which archives all postings to the internet.
This, of course, brings up some legal
issues regarding privacy.
