INTENT
To investigate the common failure modes of timber
PROCESS
Each group should select three samples. Label [Group Number - Sample Number]and
describe their physical characteristics. Each one will be loaded as follows:
Parallel to Grain, Perpendicular to Grain with 1" wide strip, Perpendicular
to grain with 4" wide strip.
RESULTS
Describe the observed failure load. Compare this to a calculatd value for
this wood and loading type.
