SUBJECT:Ampere's Law for Line Currents

NOTE: You must be connected to the Internet the first time you view this simulation, at which point the codebase for all the simulations will be downloaded to your computer. This process make take a few minutes, as the codebase is roughly 9MB in size. Subsequent viewings of the applets will run from your local copy.

DESCRIPTION:

A Java3D simulation illustrating Ampere's Law for a circular or rectangular imaginary Amperean surface, in the presence of line currents into or out of the page. You begin with one of each in the scene. You can add additional line currents using the Control Panel, or delete all line currents present and start again.

The line currents can be moved around by left clicking and dragging on the current.
