MIT subject 8a05 is a freshman advising seminar taught by Prof. Paul Schechter.
Jennifer Yu '02 is associate advisor. During the Fall 1999 the subject meets every Wednesday from 7-9 pm in room 6-212.

Wednesday 22nd September
Peter Brancazio's -"Chapman's Homer" in "The Physics of Sports" by Angelo Armenti, Jr. (pps. 40-42 only). You may want to look at the Erlichson golf article (page 71) and the Lichtenberg and Wills shot put article (page 99) both of which deal with the same subject. Try writing a program to compute a trajectory with air drag. Here's a sample. Here are results from that program, reproducing Brancazio's figure 4.
