Aerospace engineers designed a 1-megawatt electrical motor that is a stepping stone toward electrifying the largest aircraft. “Heavy stuff doesn’t go on airplanes,” says Zoltan Spakovszky. “So, we’ve got to come up with very small, lightweight, and very powerful electric motors.”
