About Us

The MIT Asian American Association (MITAAA) is dedicated to the promotion of the Asian American experience by providing a series of social, cultural, political, and educational events.

As of 2001-02 enrollment, MIT has 1764 Asian American students. MITAAA serves to represent the diverse interests of Asian American students, Asian students from abroad, and non-Asian students who are interested in learning more about the Asian American experience.

Our missions are:

· To enrich campus life by contributing to an understanding of the Asian American experience.

· To foster an understanding of the diversity of Asian cultures.

· To promote awareness of Asian American issues and concerns.

· To protect Asian American interests by working as a pan-ethnic group.

· To provide opportunities for the development of leadership and communication skills.

· To become a service to the community.

· To encourage Asian American students to take pride in their heritage and identity.

The MITAAA was founded during the 2001-02 academic year as a conglomeration of the MIT Asian American Pacific Caucus, Asian Athletic Association, Grains of Rice, and Origami Seminar.
