To the Americans, to serve
the government is a boring,
thankless job that is generally considered a job for the
lower class. To the French, a job with the government is
synonymous to security. On the whole, civil servants are
not regarded highly, and tend to have unchallenging jobs.
They are seen as lazy and competent.
