World 1 Supermeta
supermeta by Joel Corbo
Mario world structure by Ian Tullis, Ari Nieh, and Roger Ford
First, note that the World 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3 metas are related to mushrooms, flowers, and stars, respectively. Therefore, their answers (PARASOL, PIRANHA, and POLARIS) are what should be written on the Koopa Kards, one letter per card in rank order.
Then, determine the correct order of the actions. This order is:
- There is one Koopaling who holds a card which has the first letter of his or her name written on it; this is Koopaling A. There is one other Koopaling who holds a card with that letter printed on it; this is Koopaling B. Koopaling B discards Koopaling A's hand, and Koopaling A steals Koopaling B's Stars in retaliation.
- The one and only Koopaling whose cards anagram to a US postal abbreviation at the beginning of this turn passes his or her highest-ranked card two places to the right. Then any Koopaling with only one suit in his or her hand at the beginning of this turn discards the hand of the Koopaling sitting to his or her right.
- The one and only Koopaling with the highest point total gives his or her lowest-valued card to the Koopaling on his or her left, the next lowest to the Koopaling two places to his or her left, and so on, until he or she has only one card left in his or her hand.
- Any Koopaling without Stars discards all his or her Mushrooms, if he or she has any, while any Koopaling holding exactly three vowels (and any number of consonants) discards his or her Mushrooms and Flowers, if he or she has any.
- The one and only Koopaling whose hand consists entirely of consonants discards all of his or her Flowers and Stars, if he or she has any Mushrooms.
- Any Koopaling for whom a subset of his or her cards anagrams to a type of tree discards any cards not part of the anagram. Then he or she passes his or her Mushrooms two places to the left, if he or she has any.
- The one and only empty-handed Koopaling steals the only vowel held by the Koopaling to his or her left and discards any 7's in any Koopaling's hand.
This is relatively easy to check by exhaustion, although there are quicker ways to prove it.
Finally, sort the Koopalings by age, and read their cards to spell the answer, AIRSHIP.
