The biannual MIT Basketball Alumni Day is this Saturday, February 17, 2007. Many alumni, former players and friends will be there to enjoy the day. We will celebrate former coach Fran O'Brien's induction to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame with a halftime ceremony of the varsity game vs. Clark University (about 2:45PM) by former MIT President Paul Gray '54 and several other dignitaries.
After the game, there will be a reception next door in the lobby of the Zesiger Center. The game and reception are, of course, free. Thanks, Here is the complete schedule for the weekend: |

On Saturday, we will also support Coach Larry Anderson and the current 2006-7 team, as they wind up their current regular season at home at MIT. This squad has had many injuries to key players, and has shown tremendous grit in compiling a winning record. Many of the players were also members of a great 2005-6 team. Not only did that team compile the most wins in a season (21) but in June of 2006, they were invited to participate in the First Kainan University invitational in Taiwan. This was just the third overseas trip of the program's 105 year history. The photo at left was taken during the championship game, won by MIT over a highly skilled Taiwanese team. If you'd like to get more involved in supporting our MIT basketball program, please write to alumbball@mit.edu. |
