DARTMOUTH, Mass. — Joey Britto and Matt
McAulliffe each scored 20 points to lead UMass Dartmouth to
an 83-57 victory in the championship game of the fifth annual
Hampton Inn Basketball Classic played Saturday at the Tripp
Athletic Center.
Britto earned tournament Most Valuable Player honors with
his 20 points along with five rebounds and three 3-pointers.
Paul Pawlowski who had seven points and a pair of rebounds
joined him on the All-Tournament team. Jeff Hambley added
11 points on 3-for-6 shooting from 3-point range for the Corsairs,
who recaptured the tournament championship for the fourth
time in five years.
Andrew Tsai led MIT (1-1) with 16 points, including four
of five from 3-point range. Tsai and teammate Kyle Doherty
(11 points) were the named to the All-Tournament team for
the Engineers.
UMass Dartmouth raced out to a 41-22 lead at halftime and
cruised to the 26-point victory.
