Sebastian Heersink is looking to make a big contribution
this season, despite a crippling preseason injury. This year he
is taking on captain resposibilities along with Neal Brenner and
Alex Philips.
Sebastian came to MIT from Houston Academy in Dothan,
Al, where he was a three sport All-Conference performer in soccer,
tennis and basketball. He won the state singles championship in
tennis, and was also selected as second team All-State for basketball.
He captained all three sports as well. For the Raiders and head
coach Johnny Oppert, Sebastian tallied 14.2 points per game his
senior year, helping the Raiders to an 18 and 6 record.
Sebastian is second in a family of 8 and his younger
brother is also playing college basketball as a freshman at Swarthmore
College. He enjoys eating and sleeping. He currently maintains a
4.0 GPA and is hoping to go on to medical school after MIT.
