Alex Phillips is one of the three returning upper
classmen on this year's
team. This former MIT rookie of the year hopes to step up his contribution
and responsibility this year as a captain.
Alex came to MIT from Northport High School, NY,
where he was a three year varsity letterman on coach George Franck's
Northport tigers. Starting both his junior and senior year he was
awarded all conference academic team as well as all league honors.
As a captain his senior year he led the tigers averaging 16.5 points,
3.8 assists and 5 rebounds, placing him amongst the top 25 scorers
in his county. Alex played AAU for the Long Island Road Runners
and the Long Island Phantoms.
Alex's father and mother are both loyal MIT fans
and can be seen at almost all weekend games cheering the team on.
His brother is currently a freshman at Johns Hopkins. Alex enjoys
writing, reading, sleeping and surfing when he can get back to Long
Island. He currently has a 4.2 GPA and is a Finance major with aspirations
for a career in investment banking or corporate law.
