L. The Processing of Depth

The fact that stereopsis is processed in several brain areas has been demonstrated both with single-cell recordings and with lesions. Many neurons in V1, V2, V4 and MT show tuning for stereoscopic depth. Figure 56 shows that neither V4 nor MT lesions cause major deficits in stereopsis. Clearly this capacity is processed in several areas.
