C. Cortical Mechanisms of Visually Guided Saccadic Eye Movements
The
third effect in LIP was found when those regions were stimulated at which
cells discharged vigorously while the monkey maintained fixation. The
plot in Figure 22 shows that the
latency with which the monkey was able to initiate his saccade to a target
greatly increased with increasing currents of stimulation.
