All the (straight) men in Turkey are drafted into the military. Alp taught how to ask "How many days until sunrise?", which means "how long until you get out?" Everyone knows the number of days. Sadly, our Turkish numbering was not really good enough to understand most large numbers. One soldier we saw as we were going back to the bus had only fifteen days left, which we cheered for.
