| Description :
| I was riding along the dirt trail through the woods, and this flew
across my path. I stopped, got out the camera, and followed on foot,
and it miraculously let me get close to it, on about the fifth time it
landed to fan its wings.
I think it's a Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele) based
on the habitat, but I'm having trouble distinguishing that from the
Aphrodite Fritillary.
I don't remember exactly how large it was, but it struck me as quite
large.

| There's lots of the smaller hop clovers around Cambridge, but this has
substantially bigger flowers.
I didn't realise it at the time, but there's considerable naming
ambiguity among these clovers; R. Flogaus-Faust points out that this
is not Trifolium agrarium L. and that Trifolium procumbens L. is also
ambiguous.
