MIT is the only educational institution in the US that offers both an undergraduate B.Sc. degree and a Ph.D. in the field of Archaeological Materials. The curricula for these degrees maintain a careful balance in course work and in research between the human sciences on one hand and the natural sciences and engineering on the other. Both degrees are offered by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
