Change indirect cost rates for proposal budget

Indirect cost rates

You may need to change the indirect (facilities and administrative) cost rates rates used for calculating a proposal budget or a budget line item.

The rates you can change are overhead, employee benefits, lab allocations, salary inflation, and vacation accrual.

You can also look up the Institute-wide rates in Coeus, as described in the next section.

Look up Institute rates

From the Admin menu, select Rates. The Rates window appears, showing two tab pages, with the following contents:

Rate Class/Type(s) tab page -- rate classes and rate types

Institute rates tab page -- Institute rates for the selected rate class and rate type combination

Change rates for a proposal budget

On the proposal budget window, Edit menu, select rates. The window Modify Rates for Proposal ... Version ... appears. The column Applicable Rates shows the Institute indirect cost rates that applied when the budget was created and applicable rates for the budget.

In the column Applicable Rates, adjust the rates as needed.

Change rates for a budget line item

If a proposal sponsor does not allow indirect costs for a budget line item, do the following:

1. Select the budget period and highlight the line item.
2. On the Items menu, select Edit Details. The window Budget -- Line Item Detail appears.
3. In the lower section, uncheck the rate that should not apply to the budget.

When you recalculate the budget, that rate will not be applied.
