| Proposal narrative window options | The window Narrative for ... allows you to: - Import each section or chapter of a proposal narrative, in Word and/or PDF format. In Coeus, proposal sections and chapters are called modules.
- Create and edit a Word module within Coeus.
- Reorder modules.
- Export a copy of a Word or PDF module from Coeus for use elsewhere.
- View a Word or PDF module within Coeus.

| Access to the narrative window | Starting from a proposal window, on the Edit menu, select narrative, or use the corresponding toolbar button. | Add a module and enter identifying information and access rights | Starting from the narrative window: | If you want to ... | do this ... | | Add a module and enter identifying information for the module Change access rights (optional) | Select Add on the Edit menu. | | Modify module information or access rights | Select Modify on the Edit menu. | The window Edit Module Details appears. Required module identifier fields are: Module Title, Status (complete or incomplete). Restrict user rights The lower section of the window, User/Rights, shows the read or edit/modify access rights for all modules of the narrative, set up when roles for the proposal were assigned. Use the radio buttons to further restrict access to this module, as needed. Note: You cannot broaden access rights for the narrative or module here. To do this, see the instructions, Assign Proposal Roles. If you are adding a module, after you close the window and save your entries, the narrative window reappears, with a new line for the new module in the left section, and contact information appears in the lower section. |

| Import a Word or PDF module | On the narrative window: - In the left section of the window, highlight the line of the module for which you will import a Word or PDF file. If you need to add a new module, see the section above first.
- On the Edit menu, select Word Files or PDF Files and Save to database. A selection window appears showing the files on your computer.
- Select the Word or PDF file to be imported. The PDF or Word icon appears in the first or second position of the module line.

| Edit Word module | In the left section of the narrative window: - Highlight the line for the module you want to edit.
- On the Edit menu, select Edit Word source. The Word application opens the file in edit mode. If you are creating a new Word file, a message appears saying that no source exists and asks if you want to create a new file. Select Yes. The Word application opens an existing or new file in edit mode.
- When you have completed your edits, save your changes and exit from Word.

| Export a copy of a PDF or Word module | On the narrative window: - Select the line for the module you want to export.
- On the Edit menu, select: PDF Files or Word Files and "Save to Disk".
- When the export destination selection window opens, select the location on your computer for the module.

| View a PDF module | On the narrative window, select the line for the module containing the PDF file you want to view. On the Edit menu, select View PDF file, or use the toolbar button. |

| Delete a module | On the narrative window, highlight the line for the module you want to delete and select Delete. The module is deleted from Coeus. |

| Order modules | The default order of modules is the order in which they are added to Coeus. Reorder a module by highlighting the line and selecting the green up or down arrow buttons in the toolbar. If you have both Word and PDF versions of the module, both are reordered. |

| Save narrative | Save changes each time the prompt appears. |

| Submit proposal without a narrative | Before you submit a proposal, check that each narrative module is marked "complete" on the window Edit Module Details. To submit a proposal without a narrative, be sure that Narrative field on Proposal page shows "None". |
