As mentioned in the introductory notes to the reader, this report summarizes discussions of the Student Advisory Committee to the Task Force on Student Life and Learning, which were based on community input activities and extensive committee deliberation and analysis during the 1996-97 academic year. The Committee plans to discuss and research in greater depth those issues which were not fully developed in the report -- in the context of the educational philosophy espoused above.

As many of the issues and ideas outlined in the report were identified and articulated by the Student Advisory Committee, the Committee looks forward to discussing them in further detail with the Task Force during the upcoming term.
