LSC makes all its posters using single-color offset presses. Multicolor posters are made by cleaning out a press, changing the color, and sending posters through again. "There are about forty or fifty things to set to make sure the paper feeds right," Rolfe says - half seriously - to a freshman who has come to help make posters and learn the process. Getting the tones to come out right takes another several dozen screws, each of which controls ink flow at a different point along the rubber drum that actually transfers ink to the poster.
