Mass Transit Preface

Title Page/Credits
Mass Transit is a web story set in New York City on a balmy Saturday afternoon in May of 1996. The story's seven characters are each having an interesting day for one reason or another, and at times their paths cross. You can begin reading by clicking on a section of the clock on the title page. Be warned however, that not all sections are active. You can see the same clock represented as a grid, to see what's actually available for reading, and where you've been. You can get to the clock-grid by clicking on this icon where you see it:
Clicking on one of the names of the characters which surround the round clock on the title page will take you to a short profile of that character.

Eventually a map will also be available, which will illustrate the routes the characters take, and how they intersect. It'll also let you traverse the story by location, as well as time. You can see a mock-up of the map by clicking on this icon:

A technical note: I've used lots of frames to house the text of the story. Sometimes the background images of these frames don't load up properly. If that happens, do a Reload in Netscape. That should bring everything up properly.

The most challenging part of developing this story, (which is something of a first for me), has been trying to make the inter-lexial links compelling and meaningful. I welcome and appreciate your feedback.
