The criminal has been caught, and the investigation is resolved. At this point, the game is out of the hands of the player.

If the player obtained the correct warrant, the thief goes to jail and he or she is a hero. If he or she does not have a warrant, or if it is an incorrect warrant, the thief is let free. Presumably, the thief gets to keep the Leaning Tower of Pisa or whatever else he or she stole.
