The trick was going to be to register students to vote. Once they were registered, getting them to the polls would hopefully be easy.

We wanted to establish a machine to get everyone registered, since the only way to really do this is to have everyone register en masse, so that they wouldn't even remember registering. Which is where we got the idea to institutionalize voter registration.

The idea came from the Motor Voter laws, which let people register when they went to the DMV to get their licenses. If we had something that would let students register to vote along with their classes, we would have something solid to work with. So we looked into implementation.
