1997 - present, a PhD student of MIT-ERL.

I got my MS from WSU, Ohio in 1996 and my BS from Tsinghua University in 1992. I have been working for community services since middle school. Serving community is a good learning experience. I believe individuals can work together to make a better community, and in return, a better community can provide better life to individuals. Let's team up.

Vice President: Ling (Cathy) Lin picture

Having been studied in Tsinghua University, Smith College and MIT, I am an M.Eng. student in the Dept. of EECS. Beyond academics, I love all beauties in the world, like music, sports, outing and chatting. In particular, our life is beautiful no matter how frustrating it might be. Open ourselves to the beauties, forget about any stress or trouble at work, come have fun, and have a fabulous time together. When tomorrow comes, we will smile at our beautiful time today.

Chief Secretary: Peng (Steven) Sun

This is my third year at Operations Research Center. My bachelor's degrees were from Tsinghua University in Management Information Systems and Computer Science and Technology. I am interested in watching good movies and talk with people on interesting topics. I also enjoy jogging along Charles River very much.

Treasurer: Yan Zhang

I studied architecture at Tsinghua University School of Architecture, and later received a master's degree in Urban Planning & Design from the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design. Now I am a Ph.D. student in City Design and Development group. To me, every city has its "DNA", which is usually concentrated in the old areas. It is the DNA that records, inherits and determines a city's fate.

I am not there yet, but I am working hard on:

  To laugh often and much;
  To win the respect of intelligent people, and the affection of children;
  To earn the appreciation of honest critics, and endure the betrayal of false friends;
  To appreciate beauty;
  To find the best in others;
  To leave the world a little better;
  To know that even one life has breathed easier because you lived

--this is to have succeeded.

I was born in Nanjing, and took grade school as well as secondary school there. From 1998 to 2000, I took Junior College in Singapore, and then came to MIT (a great place). Being the freshest (probably the youngest) person in CSSA, I am hoping to bring the association some fresh air, and for the best I can, voice out for the undergraduate Chinese student body (you will be amazed at how few we are from the ISO statistics). We are the minority, yet one of the crucial parts that constitute this big family. More over, as the vice president of the International Student Association (thanks to all that have given me their support), I wish that CSSA could have more interactions with the international community as a whole, and expand that influence, I will do my part to make this happen, and I am looking forward to working for you in the coming semester.

Seminar Chair: Yong Zhu

I graduated from Nanjing Meteorological Institute and then studied for Ph.D. at the Edinburgh University. Now I am a research scientist at Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences, in 54-1822, 3-5933. I used to take part several social activities for publications and drama in high school and university.

my quotes"although I've had wonderful experiences of living in a multi-cultural environment, Chinese culture and Chinese people are still what i love and respect the most. I will do my best in the CSSA board and hope all of us together will make CSSA a 'da(4) zhong(4) qing(2) ren(2)'. hope everyone will 'duo(1) duo(1) bao(1) han(2)'. :)"

I love Boston after three years at MIT studying Chemical Engineering. Although MIT is a busy place, I would like to spend some time with students here exploring the vincinity of the beautiful Boston. I wanna be a "good" Boston guide after helping outing events with all the experienced precursors around here! :P

Outing Chair: Weidong Jin picture

I came to MIT in 1999, after obtaining my master degree in Dept. of ChemE in Tsinghua Unicversity. Besides studying, I have a lot of hobbies, such as travelling, photography, reading, sports and surfing the web. Although occupied by research and personal interests almost all the time, I can feel now and then my strong need and desire to enjoy my happiness, success, and even failure, my passion, and my ambition with all of my friends, which are the main reasons motivating me to do some work in the new but yet prosperous MIT CSSA. To embarrass me most is that I don't have too much capabilities compared with other members, but one thing I'd like to mention, more or less proudly, is that it has been and I hope, will be a happy experience to work with me. Certainly you can know me more in future, but why not visit my homepage right now?
