This is the official welcome
message for the CASTAC-L listserver, serving the community of anthropologists
interested in science, technology, medicine and computing. I'm Joe Dumit,
the current moderator of this list, located at
dumit@mit.edu
The primary purpose of this
list is to disseminate information on panels, conferences, interest groups,
projects, etc., related to sci-tech anthro. Another purpose is to introduce
ourselves to each other, and to plot our futures.
This is a moderated list, meaning
that all messages are bounced to me for approval before going out to the
rest of the list. My function is primarily to intercept messages not meant
for general distribution (e.g. personal messages, test messages). I will
also add subject lines to messages, all beginning with CASTAC: so that you
can recognize/sort them easily. If there are a bunch of very short messages,
I may string them together to help cut down on mailbox clutter.
