  1. Week 1: Sept. 18 - 24

    Brainstormed ideas over campfire at fraternity retreat, initial interest in brain controlled interfaces. Also discussed drones, music interfaces, and circuit simulator interfaces

  2. WEEK 2: Sept. 25 - Oct. 1

    Website established with 5 main ideas, with a strong preference to any drone based idea. Initial drone, crazy pony, purchased in addition to nichrome wire of various gauges in order to create drone based sculpting interface.

  3. WEEK 3: Oct. 2 - 8

    Planning out first phase of project. Created carriage for sculpting tool, but crazy pony drone was tested and was not usable. Bad documentation and hard to control. Ended up crashing the Crazy Pony from how difficult it was to control.

  4. WEEK #4: Oct. 9 - 15

    Presented top 5 project ideas. Drone based sculpting was still top choice, despite being most difficult. Explored feasibility of other drones, purchased Crazyflie and created heating circuit for cutting foam.

  5. Week #5: Oct. 16 - 22

    Tested Crazyflie drone and realized physical contact is very hard and powerful enough drones were out of our price range. Brainstormed on pivoting the drone project to non contact interfaces. Finalized on drone based spatial projection for mixed reality. Switched to Parrot drone for size and payload weight capabilities.

  6. Week #6: Oct. 23 - 29

    Purchased Parrot AR Drone. Flew with ease. Weight tested the AR drone to estimate how much it can carry. Lifted five 9 volt batteries with ease. Investigated SDKs for Parrot. Well documented and resources available. Planned out projection based drone idea.

  7. Week #7: Oct. 30 - Nov. 5

    Tested pico projector and began working with it. Tested Beaglebone connectivity with Pico Projector. Successfully projected pre-loaded video using beaglebone. Built first encasing for the projector to attach to the drone. Planned midterm presentations.

  8. Week #8: Nov. 6 - 12

    Tested pico projector and began working with it. Tested Beaglebone connectivity with pico projector. Successfully projected pre-loaded video using Beaglebone. Built first encasing for the projector to attach to the drone. Planned midterm presentations.

  9. Week #9: Nov. 13 - 19

    Midterm presentation week. Presented progress on Leap motion working, parrot drone, and pico projector. Drone successfully lifted pico projector and beaglebone with ease. Worked on Leap Motion gesture recognition. Switched from old Python SDK to using Unity. Designed a fully integrated Unity control system

  10. Week #10: Nov. 20 - 26

    Integrated OptiTrack Unity system to track the drones after some calibration struggles. Designed voltage regulator and portable power supply plans. Semi-reliably playing videos on BeagleBone. Wireless connection to BeagleBone established. Projected linux desktop on projector and controlled through mouse input.

  11. Week #11: Nov. 27 - Dec. 3

    Continued work on reliably playing media via commands and python scripts on BeagleBone, usb wifi adapter purchased to eliminate the need for ethernet over usb connection. Buck converter used to step down lipo battery voltage to safely power BeagleBone and pico projector. Leap motion wrist strap prototyped and built gesture recognition engine. Version 2 of projector carriage 3D printed with mounting holes

  12. Week #12: Dec. 4 - Dec. 10

    Finalize demo app with audio and visual feedback. Finalize script to set up wifi, audio, and video settings on Beaglebone all at once while also starting up the app via ssh to automate demo.

  13. Week #13: Dec. 11 - Dec. 17

    Finalize drone control and integrate power circuitry with Beaglebone and pico projector. Print and laser cut final projector box plus leap motion wristband. Create presentation and demo video. Finished!
