Media Lab

Located on the east side of campus, the Media Lab buildings, E14 and E15, offer a variety of event spaces. Please note that School of Architecture, Media Lab, and affiliated departments are given first preference for these spaces. Hourly room charges are applied to all groups, and an open custodial work order is required. Room setup and catering are the responsibility of the event planner. In E15, the Bartos Theater was originally designed for film showings and lectures, seating a maximum of 198 people. Activities in this space include conferences, presentations, lectures, award ceremonies, and like events. All audio-visual needs must be booked through MIT Audio Visual Services. Also available are the Lower and Upper Atriums, often used in conjunction with Bartos Theater for registration, lunches, dinners, and like activities. The standing capacities of each space is 198 people; the banquet seating for the Lower Atrium is 150 people, and banquet seating for the Upper Atrium is 80 people.

In E14, the 6th Floor Rooms are available for events. With beautiful views of the Charles River and surrounding area, rooms include the Lecture Hall, Winter Garden Room, Silverman Skyline Room, and Multi-Purpose Room. Events include conferences, performances, meetings, receptions, and like events. Limited furniture inventory is available on a first scheduled, first served basis; also available is a catering kitchen also on a first scheduled, first served basis. Rooms have different AV capabilities, and some equipment requires engaging MIT Audio Visual Services or MVP.

E14-633 Dreyfoos Auditorium has fixed seats for 100 people with a room capacity of 106 with handicap seating. Room has a projector with sound and a drop down screen. Also the room has a white board and theatrical lighting for filming.

E14-638 Winter Garden Room is an open reception room and will need to be shared as needed. This room cannot be rented as a stand-alone room; you must have a reservation for one of the other rooms on the 6th Floor. Standing capacity is 175 people, and the banquet capacity is 90 people.

E14-648 Silverman Skyline Room has an air wall that divides this room from the Winter Garden Room. Room has a 4x4 array screen with sound that can project out to the Winter Garden.

E14-674 Multi-Purpose Room is a large open room that can seat 250 lecture style, 260 people banquet style, or 300 people standing. Additional needs like stage, lectern, and audio visual services need to be arranged through vendors. Room has room-dimming shades with four projectors and screens.
