4.022 culminates with a series of related assignments that result in one, full scale human enclosure. Part 1 has students individually designing structures using the Grasshopper plugin for Rhino. Part 2 involves adding an interactive component to the enclosure such that the structure responds to its environment in some way. In the final part, students merge their ideas in small groups to fabricate the human sized enclosure. These assignments expose students to a variety of new disciplines, including parametric design, basic circuitry and programming, and life-sized physical fabrication.
