2.007, Design and Manufacturing I, is a course taught to undergraduate mechanical engineering students that explores the engineering design process and its applications in the real world. The class comes halfway through our time as students and is the first major application of the knowledge we have been developing thus far in mechanics, dynamics, and machining. Students are given a game that their robots must play and develop their robots individually until the final competition at the end of the semester. The competition consisted of simple tasks that the robots needed to complete, including lifting strangely shaped objects, transporting balls around, and driving to sections of the board autonomously.
